Un disco intimo, che tocca fatti suoi personali in quel periodo storico, come la fine del suo grande amore, la grave malattia del figlio Zeke, le tragiche morti dei suoi amici DANNI WHITTEN e BRUCE BERRY  e le lunghe diatribe in seno ai C. S. N & Y. Troviamo si un filone di malinconia ,ma anche del suo solito saper fare bene la musica, un timbro di fabbrica.

Non è facile stare a questi livelli, loro da veri fuoriclasse lo dimostrano da sempre.

Si fa accompagnare da una vera band di artisti, questo BEYOND THE PALE lo fa tornare alle cronache, grazie a un disco che piace, ha tutto per far conquistare , brani immediati che rimandano al passato , con richiami new wave, ritmi ballabili e momenti oscuri. Sette lunghi brani compongono il disco e non esiste il cosi detto hit di impatto, ma è un crescendo continuo.

 Due album all'attivo e gia' hanno dimostrato la loro grandezza, dopo l'esordio con DOGREL, segue questo A HERO'S DEATH, la band irlandese si colloca a diventare una grande band e tenendo conto della loro giovane eta',avranno ancora tanto da raccontarci. Il loro post punk, è fatto di chitarre che tagliano il suono, il basso tipicamente wave, le ritmiche serrate e poi ci mettiamo la voce di GRIAN CHATTEN che ne caratterizza il tutto oltre al suono. Ci stanno al suo interno, anche ballate che ci fanno pensare che non c'è in loro solo il lato piu' rock, ma anche quello riflessivo.

Il loro suono è un susseguirsi di elementi BLACK, DOOM METAL PROG e sfumature DARK. Cè un qualcosa di magico nel suono e nel ricreare atmosfere al confine con il gotico.

Sono sei i brani contenuti e dentro troviamo subito una forte dose rabbiosa, un metal alternativo, paragonabile a gruppi tipo DEFTONES e DISTURBED. Chiaramente sono note che gia' abbiamo ascoltato in passato, ma che qui vengono riproposte con una formula senza tanti fronzoli, belli, diretti, aggressivi e con un lento che merita un attento ascolto, come UNKNOWN SOURCES.

Di tempo ne è trascorso e DAVE JACKSON e PAUL CAVANAGH , fanno uscire il secondo lavoro, con questa nuova band. Sono 12 i brani che ci propongono e si muovono in vari campi, che rimandano ai THE RAILWAY CHILDREN, TINDERSTICKS, BERT JANSCH e NICK CAVE. Ci si muove tra momenti elettrici e altri post-punk,psych folk, facilmente assimilabile, direi piu' che promossi.

Lui riesce a vagare tra stili differenti non curante di cio' che puo' pensare l'ascoltatore, a dimostrazione che mentalmente è libero, questa cosa è a tutto vantaggio di chi lo sta seguendo.

 Qui ci sono varie anime che si fondono in questo progetto i TENNISCOATS, MARCUS ACHER dei NOTWIST e MATT FOWLER e CICO BECK. Questo MIRAGE MIRAGE ci riporta ad un pop, leggero,  una vena melanconica ed un rimando a quei anni 60 in odore di hippy, freak, c'è davvero della genialità, un pizzico di sana follia , il tutto all'insegna di una amicizia solida che si riversa in queste note.
